All Car Specialists Car Repair and Car Care Tips-

Maintenance on your car is like maintenance for your health, you take care of them both they will in turn take care of you. Timely visits to your repair facility provides the opportunity to budget for unanticipated repairs. Below are some of the most commonly asked repair questions in the Automotive industry. If you live in San Gabriel, San Marino, Rosemead, Alhambra, Pasadena, Monteray Park, Pasadena, South Pasadena, and Temple City and have automotive repair questions, stop by, we can help you take care of your car and perform the necessary service repairs.

1. How often should I change my oil and filter?
Generally the 3000-7000 miles depending on the car, type of oil used, and your driving conditions.

2. What about servicing my Radiator?
A vehicles antifreeze should be every 1-2 years or as recommended by your cars Manual. Most new cars are long life coolant lasting up to 3-5 years. Having the system pressure tested for leaks is also a good preventative maintenance. Hoses and drive belts should also be checked for tension and condition.

3. What about my tires?
Did you know that correct tire inflation can give you better gas mileage. You should not only have the tires inflation checked but keep tires rotated to keep tire tread even (depending on your driving). Pressure should be checked more often in the summer when its hot because the air in your tire can expand. This can lead to tire wear faster. Under inflation can also be a problem and is the leading cause of tire failures and blowouts. Did you also know according to 'Highway Safety Administration” one in every three cars has under inflated tires. Nearly 660 fatalities and 33,000 injuries occur every year due to “low tires pressure-related crashes”. As little as 6psi can make a difference. Tire inflation should be checked monthly. Come by All-Car Specialist and we can check them for free. (road and travel).

4.When 'BRAKES TALK” you should listen!
If you hear any type of brake noise you should always take you car for inspection not only for your safety but the safety of others. Some of the descriptions we hear from our customers:
  • Loud squeal noise
  • Grinding
  • Soft-pedal feel
  • Groan noise
  • Pulling and pulsating
  • Shudder or shimmy feeling when braking

When in doubt we can always check it out for you...

5. Why does regular maintenance save fuel?
Engines that have to work harder use more fuel. If you follows some of the guidelines below you could save on gas economy.. Clogged fuel injectors, Air filters, dirty Spark plugs and under inflated tires can make engines and other components work harder:
  • Rapid acceleration can cost you up to 12 miles per gallon.
  • An extra 100 pounds in your trunk reduces a typical vehicles fuel economy by 2%
  • Once again poorly inflated tires

So once again here are the key items to be check regularly...
  • Oil and filter
  • Batteries
  • All Lamps
  • Fluid levels
  • All belts and hoses
  • Inspection of exhaust system, drive shaft and transmission
  • All lights interior and exterior

Remember this can save you time and money when you need it the most. Take care of your car and it will in turn take you were you need to go.

Now that you've taken care of the inside of your car how about some tips for the outside as well.

Here is the scoop on which wax works best for your car. In a study of 28 different brands of liquids and paste here is what they have found.

Consumers found 'Liquid waxes” generally provide the best combination of cleaning and waxing and Spray waxes are generally used for “new cars” since the paint is still shiny.

Have coffee spills on your carpeting?
Clean spills immediately with water and paper towel spray on Glass cleaner to soak area. Allow to sit for a few min. then blot dry.

Have pen ink stains on upholstery or carpeting?
Spray on hairspray let sit then blot off with towel and water. To clean vinyl seats quickly, wipe with baking soda on a damp rag. Rinse with dish washing soap and water till clear.

Car mats looking dull?
Wax them with a liquid shoe wax polish. This will also make them easier to rinse clean.

Have a scratch in your cars paint?
You can go to the dealer or local body shop and give them the year make and model of your car. They can get you a small bottle of paint that matches your car. You can use a medical syringe with a fine point. Put the paint in the syringe and lay on the scratch. Slowly follow the scratch and let the color go into the crack. Let dry completely before washing and waxing.
